10 June 2010
Advice4debtNI release 6 month report for the period September - February 2010. The service identified over £8 million of debts from our clients and we have been able to offer a solution for almost £5 million of those debts.
The average number of debts per client is 1.6 with the average debt per client being £16,819.61. We deal with clients with debts of less than £100 to over £1 million.
66% of our contacts are from inbound calls, 11% were clients requesting a call back, 12% were letters (casework), E-mails 9% and Texts 1%.
In the first 6 months we had 2,450 hits to our website. Our website enables clients to self serve themselves therefore the debts and average per client could be even higher!
The four most common referral routes are from National Debtline, Consumerline, Advice4debtNI website and User recommendation.
56% of our clients are Male & 44% female, the majority being 35-49 – 49%, 19% are aged 25-34 and 25% are 50-64.
51% are Home Owners, 13% live in private rented accommodation, 4% are Northern Ireland Housing Executive tenants. The rest are made up of lodgers, housing association tenants or did not give their details.
As expected, credit cards and personal loans make up the largest proportion of debts identified. Unfortunately, the third highest debt being handled is mortgage arrears.
As our service becomes more established we expect our call volumes to increase. We will continue to work in partnership with local agencies to ensure that all clients can access our free, confidential and impartial service
