The Court Service of NI issued figures on 21st May 2010 of number of bankruptcy's for the period January –March 2010.
They are as follows:
277 Petitions by another person ie creditors
197 Petitions by the debtor (people making themselves bankrupt)
27 Other
31 Originating Applications – this is a document which formally begins the bankruptcy process whereby the applicant asks the Court to grant an order in their favour.
